It’s The Dance Of Love - Charles Tillman

Originally from Albany, New York and active on the fringes of various American underground music, art and poetry scenes since the 1990’s, Charles Tillman is now establishing his musical vision with an acoustic guitar-centered project that he has been conceiving for nearly 20 years.

With just acoustic guitar, raw vocals and powerful lyrics; Charles Tillman strips his music down to it’s fundamentals: simplicity, rhythm, harmony, melody and fuses innovation and experimentation with passionate storytelling - using elements of Folk, Disco, Country, Gospel, Alternative, Experimental, Hip-Hop, Punk Rock, Performance Art, Free Poetry, Soul, Psychedelia, Art-core and R&B inspired music to achieve his own unique sound - which has been playfully termed “Afro-Folk” - but otherwise genre-less. This is a new frontier.

Check out what I found today @ the flea market! I can’t believe it.

15, 45 RPM records from the mid-1980’s in amazing condition.

Every record I found, I’d start singing the chorus really loud in the flea market and the lady at the register just looked at me like, “!?”

She gave me half for free $8 for all.

Lyrics:

How many times, “I love you, I need you, I want you, I love you so”?

Now, we can say “We’ve made it!”. We’ve made it - oh, don’t ever let me go.

You look so cool, I wanna hang with you.

Tell me you feel the same.

Don’t waste my time, I wanna make you mine - but I have a question.

Where have you gone, my baby?

My baby, I don’t wanna be alone.

You said we would be together, forever - Oh, why did you let me go?

You are so cruel, I don’t wanna hang with you.

I’m looking for some fun.

On the dance floor, won’t dance with me no more

So, I think I’m gonna

Take a chance at love
(it’s what they say but I don’t believe them).

Let the music play
(just keep the groove and your love will come back).

You are so cruel, I don’t know what to do when you tell me I’m not the one.

That’s not what you said, you were lying in my bed

Now, I’m never gonna
take a chance at love.

It’s what they say but I don’t believe them.

Let the music play.

Just keep the groove and your love will come back.

Take a chance at love.
It’s what they say but I don’t believe them.

Let the music play.

Just keep the groove, I promise to come back and take a chance at love.

It’s the dance of love

Take a chance at love
Let the music play
Do the dance of love
You won’t get away

I don’t think we know how to do that dance.

I don’t think you know how to do that dance.

I don’t think I know how to do that dance.

How’re we gonna learn how to do that dance?

Take a chance at love

Everybody knows how to do that dance

It’s the dance of love
Let the music play
You can’t get away

Come on everybody! Let’s do that dance.

It’s the dance of love

Everybody knows how to do that dance.

It’s the dance of love.

What’s The Latest Dance Craze? (It’s The Dance Of Love)”.

Artist/Musician Charles Tillman. www.facebook.com/TheWorldOfCharlesTillman

I grew up poor, in the ghettos of the (518) area code in Upstate, New York and I currently live and work in San Francisco, California. My father is black and he grew up in the South and my mother is white/Irish from Brooklyn, NY.

I’ve traveled all over the country since my teens, making weird art on the fringes of various underground scenes but being a part of none of them. Everything from writing rhymes and self publishing books of poetry, makin’ beats, playing in bands, doing performance art, playing acoustic afro-folk style guitar, building balloon sculptures, writing songs, encouraging friends and endless other creative and mischievous endeavors - all for free and for the pure fun and love of it. I consider myself an “urban outsider artist”. I’m influenced by a lot of things but really I just love people and I love pushing the limits of creative freedom.

There’s a dance move that goes with my new song. One day, the entire world will know it.

~ Peace and Love
